I have seriously been missing out. Howecome nobody ever told me that pomegranates are like the best thing ever?! What’s funny is that the day I made this smoothie was the first time I even tried pomegranate. Want to hear something even funnier? I told my husband that I was excited to try pomegranate for the first time and his response – “I don’t really like them because it seems like there’s not much left to eat once you remove all of the seeds.” I laughed pretty hard.. since the seeds are what you actually eat! I love the tangy flavor, it reminds me of cranberries but a little sweeter.
I’m trying get in the habit of drinking smoothies for breakfast most mornings. For some reason I struggle trying to figure out what to eat in the morning. I usually will end up making eggs but that hasn’t really sounded appetizing to me recently, and it usually takes up a lot of time. Maybe it’s just me but I’ve found that it’s hard to come up with good, healthy breakfast options. I think it’s tough because most of us don’t have much (if any) extra time in the mornings so breakfast usually ends up being whatever we can eat the quickest. Smoothies are perfect because you can throw everything in blender and you’re good to go. I just bought a knock-off Magic Bullet (I think it’s Hamilton Beach brand or something) and I am loving it because it’s the perfect size for a personal smoothie and even has a to-go lid so you can take the smoothie with you right off of the blender.
Can you believe 2016 is already coming to a close? It’s a little scary to me how fast time is going by. It just reminds me to always appreciate the present moment because it’s gone before you know it. I have a habit of always looking ahead into the future. That can be a good thing in some instances but not when you do it constantly. When you’re always thinking about the next thing you’re not really living in the current moment. And while we’re on the subject I’ll go ahead and say that will be one of my goals in 2017. I think it’s important to sit down at the beginning of every year and come up with a list of goals for yourself. I don’t think they have to be very specific either. I think just being aware of the things you want to do to better yourself and laying out the steps you plan to take to get yourself there is really important for personal growth. Of course, you can do this any time of year but the start of a new year is just memorable because it’s measurable and allows us to start ‘fresh’ with a whole new year.
I’ve decided that my focus going into 2017 will be on ‘self care’. And when I say self care, that can include many different things. I just mean that I’m going to focus on taking better care of myself. The first step that I’ve already taken in doing that is deciding to commit to a (natural) skincare regimen. I’ve never really used skincare products and frankly never really thought I needed to. The extent of my skincare includes Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer. And I’m definitely not knocking Cetaphil because I’ve used their products for years and have never had problems. However, I am starting to notice as I get older that my skin doesn’t look like it used to. It’s pretty splotchy and uneven and I’ve found that I have more redness than the average person. So I figured it’s time I start scoping out some good skin products. I actually just ordered a starter kit from Beautycounter. I’ve heard great things about their skincare line so I can’t wait to give it a shot and let you know what I think!
